Perfect Odds
Lashanta Charles
Release Date: November 6, 2018
**Available for Pre-Order**

Genre: Contemporary Romance/RomCom

Calista Brenner refuses to let go of her past. She had her entire life figured out…except, maybe that was only in her mind. Being stood up for her own wedding should be a clue. Regardless, she’s determined to fix this. She just needs a plan and if there’s one thing she’s good at, it’s planning. It doesn’t matter that she’s a whirlwind of clumsy chaos. All she has to do is stay away from the gorgeously irritating Jayce Cranston and her wedding, her life, will be back on track. That’s exactly what she wants. Right?
Jayce Cranston has somehow let himself be bamboozled. One minute he’s enjoying his quiet existence in his home in the outskirts of Buffalo, NY and the next he’s dealing with a beautiful alcoholic and her penchant for trouble. And with business manager out of the office, he has to actually . . . deal with people. Surprisingly, the little ball of clumsiness is making that task so much easier to handle.
Neither of them could have guessed that Calista’s past would decide it wants to be her future and will stop at nothing to make that a reality. Could she accept that maybe her carefully laid plans weren’t as careful as she thought? Will Jayce be able to show her that he’s worth a chance and, together, their oddities can be perfect?

Random Tour & Review . . . Something Wicked by Emery Nicolson

Something Wicked
by Emery Nicolson

Genre: Paranormal Romance

The winds of change are blowing… And something wicked is brewing in the dark.

Millie Lockhart is descended from a long line of powerful witches but that doesn’t mean she has the foresight to avoid being stood up by her blind date, nor the courage to change her miserable life.
Stuck in a rut and unappreciated by her family, Millie must make a choice when fate throws the criminally sexy Colm Walker her way. A choice between a man who is a complete anathema to her family – but makes Millie feel alive - or to languish in her status quo.
Saying yes to Colm Walker could make all of Millie’s dreams come true… Or it could cost her everything.
Including her life.

Something Wicked was originally published as a 20,000 word novella back in 2015. It has been modified and extended into a full-length novel of over 65,000 words.

This book is written in British English which means British spellings and idiom.

**On sale for .99 cents!!**
Goodreads * Amazon

My Review:
**4-stars**

This book was pleasantly surprising, considering it was a new author for me.

The book tells Milli's story and her struggle with not having any active magic. She feels like a disappointment to her family, a Legacy of Guards (magical police) who she feels shuns her. A chance encounter leads her to a guy she had a major crush on an from there her life changes drastically.

I enjoyed Milli's character and Colm's. The interaction between them and how the plot developed around them was really good. I actually liked that even though Milli was plagued by doubts she was still a strong character. I also enjoyed the secondary characters.

I felt that things were left unfinished between her and her family as well as her taking the exam. The ending also seemed abrupt in its closing; not necessarily a cliffhanger, but more so just cuts off. I was expecting an epilogue of something. Hopefully, there's a sequel coming although I'm not sure if this is a series. I just felt like there were some unanswered questions.

Emery Nicolson lives in the south of England with her husband, son and assorted fur babies. In her spare time, she likes to think about writing, binge watch tv shows, read and partake of pyjama-themed dance parties often while drinking spiced rum from a mug. Something Wicked is her first novel.

EXCERPT

DANNY Pulling up to the Hard Rock, I hand the valet my keys as I grab my bag and head inside. Everyone is staying here, and if the plan hasn’t changed for the millionth time, the wedding is tomorrow night. Hard-On is in charge of the bachelor party, so I can only imagine what debauchery is planned for the evening. I hope he has figured out how to wash glitter off. As I wait my turn to check in, I notice all of the hotties prancing around in basically nothing. I can barely stop myself from springing a woody right here in the lobby. My eyes catch sight of a long-legged beauty, her cherry red sky-high heels click on the shiny marble floor, and skin-tight black dress hugs her curves in all the right places. Long auburn hair, intense eyes the same color, and lipstick to match her shoes, make her my own personal wet dream. She strolls through the lobby like she owns the place, for all I know she does. It doesn’t matter, I want to make her mine. My feet have a mind of their own as I follow her, eyes glued to her perky round ass. Her tall, thin heels make her legs seem a mile long, perfect for wrapping around my hips while I pound into her. As I approach the bank of elevators, the doors open, letting people off that I can’t bother paying attention too. She strides on, never slowing her pace and I barely make it before the doors close. We’re alone in a small space. She’s facing the doors with her arms crossed, she doesn’t even see me. I’m impossible to miss, over six feet of lean muscle, facing her, staring hard, I’m not easy to ignore. “Baby Boy, you appear to be lost.” A shudder runs through me at the sound of her voice, like satin caressing my heated skin. “I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.” I don’t understand why but my voice is low, quiet. Not my usual volume or tone. An amused smirk covers her bright red lips as she turns toward me, she lifts a perfectly sculpted eyebrow. She makes no attempt to hide that she’s giving me a once over. “You have no idea who you’re dealing with.” Unable to resist her siren call any longer, I take a step closer, her shoulder now touching my chest. She makes a show of looking at where we are touching before making eye contact, what I wouldn’t give to be touching her bare skin. “Did I give you permission to touch me, Baby Boy?” “I want to do a whole lot more than touch you.” “What you want is irrelevant.” The elevator stops, and the doors open. After taking a few steps, she spins around and points at me. “Stay!” she commands, I find that I can’t go against it. I’ve never been more turned on and confused in my life, but fuck do I like what she does to me, and she hasn’t even touched me. The doors close and the elevator descends to the lobby, her scent lingers as I take a deep breath to commit it to memory. I have no idea who that woman is, but I damn sure will never forget her shaking the fog from my confused brain. I head back to the counter and check-in.

About Andi Jaxon

Raised in California, I’m a crunchy mom, save the whales and the rain forests, hippy. I married a sexy man in uniform who let me spawn and am now raising a mutinous army of hell raisers that I created myself, all while he defends our country. I drink too much coffee until it's late enough to drink too much wine and am sexually frustrated for your freedom. If you see me online, I'm probably sitting in a closet, hiding from my kids. About AJ Alexander

Fluent in sarcasm, Supernatural, and song lyrics, I like talking to people and finding what makes them tick, though that probably has to do with the Psychology degree. I’m up before the sun because my kids don’t sleep, chugging tea and coffee to keep my eyes open and my brain semi functional. Being married to a man in uniform means I’ve lived a lot of places, survived seeing my husband for half the amount of time I’ve been married, and spent a lot of time raising my kids alone. I love to write messed up psychos with lots of angst, happily ever afters that have to be worked for. Women with sass and backbone, men with a twisted hero complex and the need to control are my favorite to read as well as write.

Random Release & Review . . . Big Stick by Kelly Jamieson

Big Stick by Kelly Jamieson is available now!
“Kelly Jamieson is my go-to author for hockey romance.”—USA Today bestselling author Jami Davenport
A brooding hockey hunk learns to embrace life—and love—from a single mom who takes the world one puck at a time.

Big move . . . Jodie’s motto is “Don’t wait for the perfect moment—take the moment and make it perfect.” And that’s just what she decides to do when she moves to Chicago with her two-year-old daughter. Now all Jodie needs is a place to live, and her best friend’s boyfriend has just the answer.

Big stick . . . Nick Balachov has zero interest in socializing, partying, or flirting right now. It’s not that he doesn’t like women. He loves them. It’s just that hockey, casual hookups, and hanging out at home are enough for him these days. Now Nick has a big problem—because the woman living in his empty coach house is a major distraction.

Big deal? The more Nick tries to keep his distance, the more Jodie needs him—around the house, that is. First he helps with the snowstorm, then the power outage. Nick even finds himself trying to impress her little girl. What the hell is wrong with him? Jodie represents everything Nick doesn’t want. But maybe she’s just what he needs. . .

**My Review**
5-stars

This was quite an enjoyable read. Book 7 in the series, I was able to keep up and not feel like I jumped in at the wrong place (even though I did). This was Jodie's and Nick's story and it had so much emotion. I laughed, especially when it came to Jodie's mouth. That irl could talk and she had absolutely no filter. It was adorable. As for Nick, who could resist the hot, brooding, giant with a core of melted goodness.

I loved Zyana's reaction to Nick. She was an absolute doll and the fact that she and Nick were so nervous-scared of each other was absolutely swoon worthy.

I loved the journey the characters took themselves on to show their growth and depth. They each had fears and doubts and they were good for each other.

This was an absolute gem to discover and I look forward to more from the author (after I go back and read the others in the series lol).
