A Standalone Menage Romance from Julia Sykes

I was meant to be theirs: Joseph, my sweet first love, and Marco, his dark and dangerous best friend. After Marco steals me away one night, Joseph is waiting for me. They say they can't let me go, or their enemies might hurt me. They both want me. Together. The three of us. I know it's dirty, and I know Joseph and Marco are dangerous men. But being with them doesn't feel wrong. When they hold me in their arms, I feel safe, cherished. If I give myself to them, can they protect me? Or will staying close to them put me in more danger than ever?

My Review:

**3.5 stars**

I enjoyed this book and found it intriguing enough to finish it very quickly. I liked the idea of the menage the characters created and that they guys made Ashlyn feel safe, even when she was having conflicted feelings about being with both of them. In spite of that, I felt like something was missing, like things just fell into place too quickly. I enjoyed learning about each character and seeing things from their POv. This was a pretty good look at the problems and issues that could pop up from having three people in a relationship. here were also so really steamy scenes. If nothing else, the sex scenes were super intense.

However, the blurb made me believe there would be more danger. While there was some and the bit that was there was entertaining, it left me wanting more. I didn't read Battle of Love, so while I liked this book, I think maybe I should have read the prequel first. I didn't get a clear understanding of why Joseph left Ashlyn to begin with. He was running from danger, but it was Marco who went back and got her. Why didn't she just go to begin with. I think that would be more obvious to me had I read BoL.

I didn't feel as though I truly connected with the characters, but I enjoyed reading about them and would read more from this author.

**I received an ARC and reviewed voluntarily.**

I don’t deserve her: the sweet, perfect angel with the sweet, perfect life. She doesn’t know anything about my violent past. But if I could just touch her, taste her, then maybe I could pretend her perfect world could be mine, too. I know I should stay away, but when she looks to me for protection, her fate is sealed. Ashlyn will be mine. Note: Battle for Love is the prequel to War of Hearts.

About the Author:

Julia Sykes is the USA Today bestselling author of the Impossible Series. She has always kept dark stories tucked away in her mind, so she was thrilled when she discovered that other people actually want to read them. Her books blend romance, suspense, and BDSM. You can usually find Julia in Starbucks with a venti iced coffee clutched in her hand (two pumps of mocha, liberal half and half). If she's not in Starbucks, you will find her with a glass of prosecco in hand, probably reading Harry Potter. Again. Julia loves connecting with readers! Please feel free to contact her on facebook, through twitter, or email her directly at juliasykes193@gmail.com. You can find out more about Julia's current and future projects at julia-sykes.com.
