Title: Torch
Author: LeAnn Ashers
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: December 8
One moment, one ordinary day changed my life and led me to my forever.
Three guys tried to kidnap me.
One man saved me.
I was beyond scared. Being blind, I was already terrified of my every move, the unknown frightening.
His name is Torch. Once he decided I was his, he didn't let me go. Torch became everything to me: my protector, my safe haven, my husband, lover, and most of all, the father to my babies. He made me see that I didn't have to be afraid of my every step, because he would always be there to catch me before I fell.
Torch is the Vice President of the Devils Souls MC. The men are violent and scary, but I learned to trust them, because above everything else, their women are protected. They became my family. My only family.
My Review:
3.7 stars
My first impression of this book was "two chapters in and I've already got six cavities, Torch is so gosh darn sweet." I loved how he rescued Kayla, I love how he treated her like a queen (wouldn't even let her get on her knees to please him), and I love that above all else, her safety and happiness was his top priority. I also enjoyed the fact that this wasn't your typical MC book. There was no disrespecting the women by cheating or name calling. Protecting their families was what they lived and breathed. They believed in building up the community and keeping it legal - or as legal as you can when you have to kill the bad guys.
The sweetness factor became sickly sweet after a while. I like when an author shows me a person's character. After that, I only want then to let the character's actions speak for themselves. With this book I got tired of EVERYONE repeatedly saying how sweet Torch is. I get it, he's a badass teddy bear. It got so bad, Torch even began pointing it out to himself. I also didn't like how Kayla's character would think something and then say it out loud. It made it seem repetitive. While I liked that Kayla stood up for herself - she's deadly with that taser - I didn't feel like the diner scene was realistic. I doubt that Torch would have been sitting that close to her and see an attack coming for her and not stop it before she's hit. I also didn't like the multiple epilogues. If the kids are getting their own books (according to the message from the author in the end) then why so many epilogues into their lives.
One thing that I can't figure out is the scene with her crappy mom. I don't want to give too much away, but she specifically mentions locking the gate. If so, how did any of that happen? Did I miss something? Also, I may need to read it again, but was his real name ever given. I caught Daniels as the last name, but I don't remember seeing his real name.
Overall, I would definitely read more from this author and I would recommend this book to others. Oh, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book cover...YUM!
