BLURB:

It was always bros before hoes—except when Josephine Faulkner got involved. The saying had been obliterated for Maxwell Sheridan the moment he met her. His Josephine. She had become his everything without even trying. It’s too damn bad that Max broke her heart. Left her behind to seek redemption for his past mistakes. Life with Josie was perfect. He had found his La Vie En Rose … Or so he thought. One moment outside her apartment building changed it all. Josephine Faulkner’s world erupted with a single phone call. She became numb with a revelation, and her beliefs held no meaning the moment Maxwell Sheridan left her. Gone was the perfection she thought they had found together. All the good taken away by his decision. But his goodbye wouldn’t destroy her. Josie has more important things to worry about than the shattered pieces of her heart. Because not even Max can stop her from saying the one goodbye that means the very most. The very last goodbye that will hurt her in ways Maxwell Sheridan couldn’t.

PLEASE NOTE: With The Last Goodbye is NOT a standalone novel. It is the conclusion to Maxwell and Josephine's story, which begins in With The First Goodbye. You should read With The First Goodbye prior to reading With The Last Goodbye!

My Review:

**4 stars**

I don't even know how to write this review! If you read this book without shedding any tears or feeling the absolute heartbreak Josie goes through, you are a dead, shriveled up creature and you need help. That being said, this book was beautifully written. It had angst, drama, love, heartache, emotions galore. Josie often spoke about how she wasn't strong and couldn't handle things, but she was wrong. She had an inner strength that couldn't be matched. I loved that when she felt she couldn't handle it anymore she had people in her corner.

I didn't care for Max in this book. He wasn't my favorite in book one and I like him even less in this book. He will not be in the book boyfriend top 100 this year. He was too fickle, too indecisive. He said he needed to do things and he made absolutely horrible decisions and I just could not find it in me to see him as being redeemed at any point. When he was there, he was all in, but I never got the sense that he was reliable. I just couldn't trust him. And then a year?!? An entire year and oh look, here we go. Sorry, couldn't see it, couldn't get on board with it.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and devoured it just as I did with the first. I would definitely read more from this author and recommend this duet to other readers.

My name is Nathan Reines… and I’m a voyeur. Yes, I like to watch people have sex. Witnessing the desire on their faces as they writhe in ecstasy makes my blood hotter than the hottest flame. There’s nothing more erotic than seeing their bodies tighten and tremble as they balance on the edge of ecstasy. It makes my dick as hard as fucking steel. I’ve never been tempted to have a lasting relationship with a woman—why get involved when watching from the sidelines is so fucking hot? But from the first time I watched the woman in the apartment across from mine, I knew she was different. She teases me with her soft touches and gentle caresses. She tempts me with her silent moans and sexy whimpers. She excites me, and makes me want more than I ever have before. For two years, I refused to give in to my curiosity. That is, until fate took things in her own twisted hands. Now that I know what it’s like to experience Emberleigh in the flesh, there’s no damn way I could ever go back to simply watching. Although this is book 3 in The Consumed Series, Watching Mine may be read and enjoyed as a STANDALONE.

My Review

**4 stars**

My inner voyeur is rejoicing!

I want to start by saying that I was first introduced to this author by her Jaded series. From that series to this book, the amount of growth in the author's writing is tremendous. I like that the author was able to stick with her message of overcoming abuse, but the difference between her Jaded series and this book was that it was more realistic and not so repetitive.

I loved that Nathan was so uninhibited and fully embraced his vice. I loved the development of the relationship between him and Emberleigh. There was just enough drama and intrigue to keep me enjoying this story and I look forward to more from the author, especially in reference to the secondary characters.

My Review:

**3 stars**

I liked this book, but I couldn't quite keep my attention on it. It was fun and I loved the characters, but something was missing and I can't quite say what. I enjoyed the characters, especially Teagan and her clumsiness. It was a different take because usually shifters are so graceful and poised, Teagan was not, LOL. I also liked the concept of shifting into a wild dog; don't think I've ever seen that one before. And Tyler, ahhhh yes. The sexy geek...and he cooked - SOLD! The book was well edited and it was entertaining.

Overall, I liked the book and would most likely read more from the author.

Random Review . . . Awaken Me by Alex Grayson

AM_RB_BANNER

The darkness of grief has consumed him. Can he trust anyone to help him heal? Awaken Me, book four in The Jaded Series by Alex Grayson, is now #FREE in KindleUnlimited!!!

AM_RB_1

BLURB:
The highly anticipated conclusion of The Jaded Series, featuring the beloved Nick and the relentless Chris. Be prepared to experience an emotional roller-coaster of a life time!

What do you do when you lose the single most important thing in your life? You grieve. You sink so deep in a hole, you can no longer see the top. All you see is dark. Your life becomes dull and dreary. You withdraw from your friends, lash out at the ones you're closest to, and become so absorbed in your pain, you feel the only way out is to end it permanently. Your heart no longer pumps properly and you can never get enough air in your lungs. You drink, you neglect your health, and you rent dirty hotel rooms with the sole purpose of ending your pain in them. Guilt eats at you for not being at the one place you were needed the most. And you become angry because you were left behind. Or at least, that’s what I did. Until she came along… Chris, the bane of my existence. She’s always there in the background, watching me, trying to ‘be there’ for me. But I don’t want her help. I don’t need her to butt in where she’s not wanted. I just want to be left alone in my dark world. But she's not giving up, even when I'm a bastard to her. Every time I turn around, there she is. And what’s worse, she’s starting to make me want things. Things I never thought I could have again. She’s making me forget the pain and bringing color back into my life with her fiery red hair, bright green eyes, and the silly faces she makes at herself in the mirror. But what happens if I let her in? Could I be brave enough to open myself up, knowing the possibility of having it snatched away again. Once I know the feeling of touching Chris, of having her heart and soul blend with mine, I would never survive losing that. Can I take the chance of her being my savior, even knowing that she could also be the one that could push me other the edge of self-destruction?

Awaken Me can be read as a stand alone, but it is HIGHLY recommended to read at least the first in the series, Shatter Me. Through Shatter Me, you will understand the emotional ties between Nick and Chris and why Nick is the way he is. Without reading Shatter Me, Nick's behavior may seem too harsh for some readers. This is not a light read. Deals with mental abuse through extreme grief. Intended for readers 18+.

My Review:

**3 stars**

I looked forward to this book from the moment I read book one. I wondered what would become of Nick's character throughout the whole series because the author only teased us with a glimpse here and there of his character. I'm glad I finally got it.

The story was well written and filled with a crap ton of angst and heartache. The plot kept me interested and I was able to finish the book in one sitting.

That being said, it disappointed the heck out of me. Like WTF kind of doormat female bashing mental abuse bull crap did I just read?!?! Chris??? Nick??? This is what you give me???

Nick was hurting, so every crappy thing he did was okay and forgivable? Chris was the only one who could get through to him (never mind she's been trying for over a year), so her friends (who can't stand the thought of her being hurt) implored her to keep trying with Nick, who was so stuck in his past that he went against everything he knew to be right & wrong (he repeatedly admits that he knows he's doing wrong) and treated Chris like the scum of the earth. It got to the point that I found myself reading just to see when Chris would react differently. I couldn't enjoy the characters because they both made it so hard to like and relate to them with their unrealistic actions/reactions. I get that love is blind, but seriously, Chris! And Nick? Such a devastating let down. I kept waiting for him to truly redeem himself. Nope. He was a total disappointment the entire book. He left her twice when she needed him most, like not just because she wanted him, but life and death needed him. Selfish doesn't begin to describe his actions. And how did so many people "see" Anna? That's one thing I didn't like throughout this whole series; when there was a situation, it was always taken to the extreme.

Overall, the book was good, it was just a huge disappointment to me.
