My Review
**4 stars**

This is the story of Leti and Paal and I think that just as with the others in the series, Renee Rose did a great job telling it.

Leti has a defense mechanism that makes Paal want to avoid her, but at the same time he can't truly stay away from her. I think they were perfect for each other and satisfied needs that both of them wanted to deny having. Leti was a very sweet person who had been hurt and abused and instead of understanding that Paal said and did things that hurt her as well. I liked both of their characters and was happy with the way things turned out.

I also enjoyed getting a glimpse at all the other characters and how they played a part in all the attacks (Girl Power!!). I think this was supposed to be the conclusion to the series or maybe it was just the conclusion to the war, but there is already another book set to come out and I look forward to it.

While this wasn't my favorite among the series, it was enjoyable and I would recommend it to others.

Random Review & Tour . . . Driving Whiskey Wild by Melissa Foster

Synopsis

A captivating new sexy standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster.

Special Forces veteran and Dark Knights Motorcycle Club member Bullet Whiskey lives to protect his family, their bar, and the residents of his small hometown. He’s rough, unapologetic, and haunted by a secret, painful past. He’s also a master at keeping people away, and when his sister hires gorgeous and sweet Finlay Wilson to help expand their biker bar, he knows just how to get rid of her. After losing her boyfriend and her father, Finlay moves back to her hometown to be closer to the little family she has left. She needs her temporary job at Whiskey Bro’s to get her catering business off the ground, and she’s determined not to let the gruff, arrogant mountain of a man Bullet Whiskey scare her off. Finlay is everything Bullet has never wanted. She’s afraid of his dog, afraid of motorcycles, and sweet enough to give him cavities, but as she weaves her way into the hearts of everyone around him, he’s powerless to resist her charms. Passion ignites, but trust doesn’t come easily, and when their pasts collide, Bullet finds out the true meaning of protecting those he loves.

My Review:

**3.5 stars**

This book is tremendously sweet!

I loved the tortured and tormented big, bad "Brutus" who was out to protect everyone in his family. I honestly love reading about guys like Bullet because I love to see that protective instinct in them. Not only that, I love the fact that they can offer that protection and actually back it up. That being said, there was no drama here. It was just . . . sweet.  Not that that's a bad thing, I honestly just expect books like tis to have some sort of drama, some saving or bg sacrifice that's worked out in the end, or a lot more angst. This book didn't have that, although Bullet definitely had his demons. The bit of strife that did come up was extremely minimal (but I did like that they talked like adults vs being immature nitwits).

I loved Finlay's character, all innocence and huge heart smiling at everyone and brightening their day. I enjoyed the scene where she meets Tinkerbell. I liked that she questioned everything without being a complete snob and I loved the relationship development between her and Bullet. I liked that they didn't fight it just because it didn't seem likely, complete opposites and all that jazz. Also, I'd love for her to cook for me!

Side note: The full sex scenes . . . HOT!

I don't think this book was meant to be anything other than exactly what it is; a love story. However, it was a tad bit too perfect. Overall, I did enjoy it and would recommend it to others who want a nice love story and I would definitely read more in the series with that expectation in mind.

“Don’t fuck this up, Bullet, or I swear I’ll make your life a living hell. She’s agreed to work with us for a month, and we need her if we’re going to pull this off. She knows about menus, hiring kitchen staff, and health regulations.” “She doesn’t belong in a place like this, Dix. She’s not like us.” Finlay looked like a frigging angel with her silky blond hair and innocent blue eyes. It was that innocence that had flipped some switch inside Bullet and made him want tosin her up and protect her at the same time. Fucking Finlay Wilson. The wedding was four weeks ago, and he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her since. If she wasn’t starring in his X-rated fantasies, she was flitting about town in those frilly dresses she wore, spreading smiles like fairy dust. “You didn’t seem to mind that when you hit on her at the wedding.” She arched a brow. “Or did you think I didn’t notice the way you were watching her every move when Bear and Crystal also decided to tie the knot? Sidling up to her every chance you got during the reception, like a puppy chasing a treat?” Bullet scoffed. He’d been looking at her long before Crystal and Bear’s impromptu proposal and subsequent wedding the day Tru and Gemma got married. “She’s a hot chick. So what? I didn’t want to marry her—just have a little fun.” “Then you shouldn’t mind seeing her in here for a few hours a day while we pull things together.” “It’s a mistake, Dixie.” He moved around the bar and stood beside her. “A pretty little thing like her is just asking for trouble in a place like this. Why are you so hung up on hiring Finlay anyway? Did you even check with our club members to see if anyone needed a job?” “You know, sometimes I forget that you have so much Dad in you, it’s like beating my head against a brick wall.” “What the fuck does that mean?” “That you’re as hesitant to hire outside the family as he is. That you think if someone’s not in the club or one of us, they can’t do shit.” “Jed’s working here, isn’t he?” Bear had recently given up bartending and was now designing motorcycles for the elite Silver-Stone Cycles. For the first time in the history of the bar, they’d been forced to hire outside the family and outside their motorcycle club, the Dark Knights, which was as solid as family. Although Jed Moon, who was not only their new part-time bartender but also worked as an auto mechanic for the shop, was Bear’s new brother-in-law. So technically, he was family. Finlay Wilson was not. Finlay Wilson was trouble waiting to happen. “Give me a break.” He shook his head. “We always hire family first.” “Yeah? Well, which of our club members do you think knows how to run a restaurant? Gutter, the home repair expert? Or maybe one of the Bando brothers, who pour concrete for a living? Do you realize Finlay went to one of the best culinary schools in Boston? She’s worked in a restaurant, and she’s run her own catering company for years, and soon she’ll be opening a catering company right here in town.” He didn’t give a rat’s ass about her credentials. If anything, she was overqualified. But the thought of her flouncing around the bar with a bunch of horny, drunk guys going after her made Bullet’s blood boil. The fact that she was not his to worry about did not escape him. “We’re offering sandwiches and fries, not gourmet meals.” “Which makes her the perfect person for this job. She knows how to keep costs down, and she’s from Peaceful Harbor. She’s putting down roots here, which means she’ll want to see the business do well—so it doesn’t reflect poorly on her. What do you have against Finlay, anyway?” “Against her? Nothing.” Though he’d like to be buried deep inside her. “But she’ll get eaten alive in a place like this and she’ll go cowering out the door. Then we’ll be left trying to figure shit out anyway. Besides—” The creak of the front door opening drew their attention. Bullet looked over his shoulder, meeting the innocent blue eyes of the angel peeking in at them.

Random Review . . . Sacrifice by Ava Sinclair

Sacrifice A Reverse Harem Dragon Fantasy from Ava Sinclair. AVAILABLE NOW

Four dragon lords. One virgin sacrifice. When my village sacrificed me to the dragons, I went willingly to the Altar Rock to die. But I didn’t die. I wake up in a castle built into a huge mountain. House Fra’Hir is one of many castles in the Drakoryan Empire. It is here I learn the truth — that women like me aren’t taken away to be devoured, but to be mated. My mates, four sons of a dragon knight slain in the last battle of the ShadowFell, are unique both in personality and carnal abilities. They introduce me to the world of pleasure. In their bed chambers, they prepare me with masterful skill for the final, ultimate bond that will make me truly theirs. But I am no passive mate. I make two vows to myself – to remember the village I left behind, and to remain strong. I will need that strength, not just to satisfy the insatiable appetites of my dragon lords, but to face the looming threat that will soon threaten both the Drakoryan and humans alike. This book contains depictions of graphic sex and fantasy battlefield violence. Please do not purchase if these themes offend you.

My Review:

**3 stars**

Lyla was a good character, but I found I didnt really connect with her. I loved the idea of being snatched up by a dragon and then having four of them as mates (I absolutely love dragons and was super excited when they shifted), but the men weren't exactly likeable for me. They were eager and looked forward to the mating, but it came across as being more of a duty for them.

This book started off slow for me and while there was emotional tension right from jump, I didn't feel connected. The first few chapters left me contemplating if I would enjoy the book (side note: please never refer to an appendage as "mighty" during adult situations). However, it did pick up and I hope to see growth in the guys' characters in future books.

Excerpt:

“Are you the one who saved me?” I ask. “Saved you?” “From the dragon.” He regards me, his gaze intense. “Yes, the dragon. As fearsome a beast as ever lived.” He walks to the bed and puts a hand on one of the posts. “Were you afraid, little one? When you first saw it, what went through your mind?” I clutch the cover to my chest. The man is staring at me. Something about his eyes ring familiar. But that’s impossible. I’ve never seen him before. I struggle to answer his question. “First, that my life was over. Then…” I summon the memory of the moment the dragon’s massive head rose above the lip of the ledge, the sheer size of it. “And then, I thought it was the most terrible, most beautiful thing I have ever seen.” The corner of his mouth curves into a smile. “You are a brave girl. What do they call you?” “Lyla. “Lyla.” He repeats it, as if tasting my name on his tongue. “Did you save me?” I ask again. “What happened? It took me…in its claw…” I curl my hand, subconsciously mimicking it. I close my eyes, trying to recall more. “I do not know what happened next.” “And you do not need to.” His voice is deep. It seems to rumble from within. His accent is strange to my ears. “All that matters is that you are safe. And mine.” “Yours?” I twist my hands into the sheet I clutch at my breast. “Yes, little one.” He moves to the side of the bed. By the gods, he is huge! His thighs, smooth and brown, bulge with muscles as he walks. My heart begins to flutter in my chest at his approach. “You are here, unscathed.” He smiles. “Do you not think I deserve a boon for that?” “A boon?” I try to swallow my nervousness. I’d planned for death, but not for this. My mind races as it sinks in what he wants. “My mother…she will be so glad to know that I’m alive. She could give you…” My voice falters and I look around. What could my poor mother give this man whose bed is larger than a room in my house. My gaze falls on the rich tapestries on the wall, the sumptuous firs on the stone floor. He leans over, puts a finger under my chin. His eyes lock onto mine. The irises are green, then gray, then gold. “You are the boon.

Random Tour & Review . . . Madman by WS Greer

Title: Madman
Series: Love & Chaos #1
Author: WS Greer
Genre:  Dark Romance/Thriller
Release Date: February 5, 2018

Eyecandy Bookstore - “WS is a natural story teller in a raw, in your face kind of way.” Natalie Weston - “THIS BOOK!!!!!! Madman was my introduction to W.S. Greer and I have to say what an introduction it was.” #Minxes Love Books - “A beautifully dark, twisted and well written story that takes you hostage and will hold your attention right to the very end…”

People fear what they don’t understand. Maybe that’s why they all fear me. I’m sure they have their reasons, I just couldn’t possibly care what any of them are. As long as they’re afraid.
Born to a drug dealer father and a drug addict mother, I’ve been through enough to make a normal person lose their mind five times over. I’m not normal. Normal is for weak people, and I'm anything but weak.
My childhood was made of nightmares, but there was one light in all my darkness. Her name was Reina Wilde, and when my mother would hit me or pass out in the middle of the living room on her high, I would confide in her. We were from completely different worlds, but she meant something to me, though I never figured out what, because she left. In the years that followed, I built a reputation for myself, and let go of any and all deluded notions of love.
I’ll never go straight now. It’s just too much fun taking things from people who are powerless to stop me. And make no mistake about it, I take what I want, from who I want, when I want.
I'm infamous in this city. But everything changes when, after years apart, I finally see Reina again, and she’s standing next to my enemy--the underboss of the Philadelphia mob.
It’s not just about power anymore. It’s not about respect. No, this is personal now.
Gasoline has been thrown on the flame, and for Reina, I’m about to burn the whole world to the ground.

My Review:

**3.5 stars**

I liked the writing style of this book. I liked that the author started us off with a look into Soloman's background and how he came to meet Reina. I also enjoyed Soloman's crazy side. I loved that he was psycho enough to fear nothing and was wholly unapologetic about it.

That being said, I also felt like the author gave me a look at Soloman's crazy and then just flooded me with it. After a while, he was no longer the mysterious bad@&$ and I was over it. While that didn't truly detract from the book, it went along with the fact that the author gave more details on things I didn't care about and therefore gave the book a sort of droning quality. For instance, so much time was spent telling about their teenaged years, then Reina disappeared for years and while I was okay with knowing what Soloman was doing all that time I felt like it took away from me connecting with them as the main characters; so when Reina came back into the picture, I was too disconnected to relate and then the book ended. I wish I had more of Reina's POV.

This wasn't one of those books where I felt like I absolutely had to know what would happen next, but more along the lines of I'm JUST interested enough to keep going and finish it. In spite of that, it seemed to pick up more at the end and leads me to believe that the next book could be much better, so I'll definitely continue the series.
