I met Marco once, before the night he took me. He’d been dark and unquestionably dangerous, and alluring in a way I didn’t allow myself to contemplate. I’d clung to Joseph, looking to my first love to protect me from his intimidating best friend. Then Joseph left me, alone and broken; vulnerable to enemies I hadn’t known threatened me from the shadows. But it wasn’t his enemies I should have feared, since his best friend is the monster who abducted me. And when I wake up, taken and trapped, the man I love is by the monster’s side. Joseph says he can’t let me go. Marco says he won’t let me go. I’m theirs.

About the Author:

Julia Sykes is the USA Today bestselling author of the Impossible Series. She has always kept dark stories tucked away in her mind, so she was thrilled when she discovered that other people actually want to read them. Her books blend romance, suspense, and BDSM. You can usually find Julia in Starbucks with a venti iced coffee clutched in her hand (two pumps of mocha, liberal half and half). If she's not in Starbucks, you will find her with a glass of prosecco in hand, probably reading Harry Potter. Again. Julia loves connecting with readers! Mr Review:

4 Stars

Oh, I absolutely adored this one! Some DD/lg stories give me the heebie jeebies, but this one was perfect (especially when Lola caught herself being a brat and when River laughed at the tantrum she was throwing). I enjoyed getting to know Lola and loved that she had such a big heart. I also liked that she was so open-minded and found it completely hilarious when she couldn't understand why she liked being so dependent and submissive to River. And OMG, River!! I loved his patience. I liked the fact that he was willing to take baby steps, so to speak. I loved his aftercare. I've read quite a few books where aftercare wasn't a priority for the Dom, but River delivered each and every time and I absolutely swooned. I liked Kade's character, but I felt like Arch and Das weren't given enough detail, so hopefully there are follow up books for them. The one thing I didn't like about the book was the repetitiveness of some of the phases. It got to be a bit annoying after a while.

Overall, I would recommend this to others and although this was my first book from this author, I look forward to more from her.

Will Jase be the man to help him overcome the grief he feels inside? And what happens when Jase’s past catches up to him and threatens to take away the man Andrew’s waited forever to meet?

My Review:

4 stars

I'm happy we finally got Andrew's story! I felt so bad that he spent all his time pining after Jaxson and it broke my heart every time he bit back his feelings.

I loved his attitude. He was truly the type that didn't care what anyone said about him and was comfortable enough in his skin to go after what he truly wanted and not let anyone stand in his way. I loved that he was basically obsessed with Jase, it was cute. They made an amazing couple, but of course it wasn't easy by far. Jase had his demons following him and Andrew held one hell of a secret.

It was a bit of a let down that it was predictable. I figured out Andrew's secret almost immediately and couldn't identify with his reasoning for keeping it. Jase's demons were more of a surprise, which made it enjoyable.

There were a few times when Andrew's name was used in places where it should have been Jase's name (character mixups) and it threw me off a little. There were also a few missing words or the wrong use/spelling of words, but it didn't detract too much from the story.  I liked this story and enjoyed getting to know Jase and Andrew on a deeper level.

The first time I met Evie Harper, she threw a cream pie at my face. I actually hadn’t met her, just saw her. It was more like she hated everything I stood for and showed me her opinion with an airborne cream pie. Yes, she smacked me front and center on my face. The second time I saw Evie, I didn’t realize she was the cream-pie-throwing bandit, and she took my breath away in a flowing red gown at a gala. Of course I couldn’t resist her looks, so I asked her to dance. She called me a schmuck and stalked off. My own Cinderella ran away from me. I shouldn’t have chased her down. We were all wrong for each other. But her fire red hair and feisty personality reeled me in, and I was hooked. Chicago’s most renowned playboy was finally falling head over loafers. At least it felt that way because she was like no other woman I’d met before . . . Evie was special . . . Problem was I had trust issues when it came to women. Freud would’ve probably said it was my mother’s doing. Somehow Evie made me believe in her . . . trust her . . . Big damn mistake! One I hope I won’t live to regret . . . But then again how could someone so wrong for me turn out to be so damn perfect?

My Review:

4 stars

I enjoyed just about every aspect of this book. I adored Evie's character. She was caring and fun and just the right sigmde of feisty. I loved that she let no one come before the person she loved the most and I loved that in spite of her vulnerabilities and insecurities she didn't let her disability hold her back.

I liked Colton' s character as well, but there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way about him. I hated how he let his dad run his life, especially when it came to the rest of his family. At no point in his life did he think maybe he should ask some questions and do some digging? What truly threw me off was the climax. Evie's experience and pain and how alone she was and then the whole scene on the plane. I didn't like it and it didn't seem genuine.

“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” he asks and presses his nose to mine briefly causing my breath to hitch before he pulls away. “Your suit reminds me that you are the governor,” I say and I know it sounds weird, but somehow in my head on the last few dates, I tried to convince myself that he was just a regular guy. He chuckles, and again I wish I knew the sound of his laughter. “I’m still the same guy whether I’m in a suit and tie or a pair of jeans,” he replies. I want to tell him that he looks hot as sin in his suit but something tells me that his ego is inflated enough. “Isn’t the governor’s mansion in Springfield? Why are you always in Chicago?” I ask, knowing this because I also teach history and the governor’s mansion has been in use since 1855. “Yes, the governor’s mansion is in Springfield, and I do occupy it in a way, but I hate it there. It’s big and empty. I much prefer my apartment here in the city. Truth is since I met you I’ve been spending more time in Chicago than I have in Springfield,” he says, and his blue eyes blaze as he makes the admission. My chest turns warm and saliva pools in the back of my throat. Fuck! I am so turned on by him. “Oh,” is the only word I can formulate right now. He walks toward me at such a slow pace, and I feel like someone has pressed a slow-motion button. I take a large gulp as he closes the distance between us. He pushes a stray strand of hair off my face. “I’ve been thinking about kissing the hell out of you all day,” he says. My knees buckle, at least they feel like they do because the next thing I know his lips are on mine, hot and wanting. He kisses softly at first before his tongue begs entrance into my mouth. His taste is as intoxicating as I remembered. Our lips meshed together in a way that tells me, we fit. This is more than perfect. This kiss is everything.

Do holiday wishes really come true? For kindergarten teacher, Holly Mary Edwards, she’s banking on a miracle when the man of her dreams returns from duty abroad. Decorated army doctor, Michael Barnes, is not ready to face the holiday season after his fiancĂ© leaves him for another man. Michael is convinced it’s time to put happiness in a tight little box and ship it back to the North Pole. He wasn't expecting Holly. And when the sexy Holly-jolly nymph takes it upon herself to divest him of his Mr. Scrooged attitude, she'll do anything to bring him into the jingle bell jolly. Can Holly convince him ‘tis the season for love?

My Review:

3 stars

This book was cute and sweet and I liked it, but there was a lot missing for me.

I loved that Holly came into Michael's life again when he seemed to need her most. He struggled with a past that held him tight in its grip and she was a beacon to bring him back to the present and give him a future to look forward to.

I felt like the references to Ella and what she did weren't enough. I understand there's a full novel for her, but the lack of info left me frustrated since she played such major role in Michael's outlook in this story. I also felt like there wasn't truly enough resistance or strife in the book, considering Michael hated Christmas. I didn't feel that emotional connection with him. There was never really any excitement, things just sort of happened.

Overall, this wasnt my favorite from this duo and while i felt it could have been better, I liked it and would read more from them.
